No opposing party in Academy?
Just a wonder if this has happened to anyone else.
I went through the Academy with my ranger, looking forward to my first ranger PvP experience. Apart from myself, obviously, my team is entirely henchmen... I'm like, okay, I can call my target and things will be cool. I see two names "joining the game" for the opposing team. The gates open... I run out... ready to cycle through my potential targets.... and no one. No one is there. Not even the presumed two henches the other team would have to complete the team, even if they logged/lagged out. I stood there for a sec (should have taken a screenie, but I'm lame and forgot to), then logged out to see if I could try again. Nope, skipped right to the part where we go fight Vlatlaw Doomtooth. Anyone else experience this? |

yeah it happened to me, but when my monk went to the academy it was about 2 am
so basically there wasn't anyone else going to the academy.. besides me and that's what most likely happened to you |

sounds like you got an easy win. I lost first time through with my character but I had no idea what was going on as I had never PvP before. So next time through with my ranger... we OWNED hehe, cause I knew what was going on that time.

I've had it say there was no opposing party, but it didn't even bring me to the PvP portion at all, I totally skipped it and went the part with Rurik and the Charr boss.
Wasn't fun, I wanted to do the PvP part. So I deleted my character and redid Presearing under the same name, same professions and stuff, all just to do that fun PvP part of the game. |

You do know there is a low level arena in Ascalon right? You can PvP there all you want with your guy until you hit lvl 10.
So you replayed several hours of presearing for 3? minutes of 1 PvP battle? If that's the way you roll then I guess that's fine. I personally wouldn't do it. I did have quite a laugh reading your post about making a new guy just for that. |

Several hours? umm, if you read what he posted you'll see that all he did was log out and then log back in and try the mission again hoping to get the PvP part.. and didn't.
I gotta admit I hate that PvP part and everytime I get a character there I wish to just skip it. If you get there and no-one else is going through there, then you skip the whole PvP section completely. I always hope for that, but always have to PvP.. *mutters* Not that I suck at that low-level PvP.. hehhe I have never been on the loosing side, and have never died.. and can say I killed a fair few players.. hehehehe BTW Jhyphi, if your not aware.. the low level arena's in Ascalon can be a damned nightmare for new players without Drok Forge armor. This is because there are too many people who rush their low level characters to the forge for the armor... and if your a new character with low damage weapons like any "new" character would have (ie no max dmg weapons bought from players or saved from previous characters).. then good luck to you trying to damage those ppl in max AL armor. bout your only hope is if you have AP skills or skills that ignore armor. But this isn't the time or place to discuss this oh bah, I just read Vilaptca's post.. my apologies to Jhyphi.. I see thats who you were talking about, not the OP. |

I had this happen a night or two ago. Skipped right to the part with Rurik. Didn't bother me though. I restarted that player after getting to that arena and the stupid game placing my lv4 guy against a lv7 and lv8 group. Everybody else was henchies.

I've never noticed the Droknar's armor in Ascalon or LA arenas.
Of course when I did play them, I used my R/Me mostly with conjure phantasm, backfire, empathy the like which ignores it. Bow attacks are pretty weak in general, didn't bother, didn't notice how much it was doing. Had couple guys scream murder about how that "mesmer" is overpowered. Looked around, nope, I'm the only mesmer primary or secondary. Maybe they were pissed that their invinci-armor didn't make them invincible. |

I hate the Ascalon arena, but yeah, I really did that. And everyone laughed at me for doing it. But I had fun. And wasted a lot of time...

Having the option to skip that section would be nice.

I entered the searing PvP once... and was paired with a group of human players I didn't know.... and that team carried on into the following mission.... It made me feel kind of uneasy... does this normally happen or what?

Lasareth - yep, thats how it works. when you talk to Sir Tydus and if you get into the PvP section with other people on your team you will have those same people as your group to fight the charr boss.. and then will be grouped with them once you get past that cutscene.

The odd thing was, that these people were assigned to me for the PvP match by some unknown entity. Usually it was such that, when I talked to Tydus alone, I'd be grouped with henchmen, or when I was in a PT already, the other 2 spots would be filled with henchmen. This time, it ripped me from my PT entirely to pair me up with some random people I didn't even know o.o

well my first time through, I had no idea I was suppose to fight anyone so surprise surprise when I find myself being attacked by people. It was confusing for me first time through... I have not by choice done PvP since and it can't be avoided when transending to after the searing.

Interesting. My first time through, I was with 2 henchies. While waiting for the doors to open, The guy on the other team sent a message saying "sorry" and logged out. When the doors opened, I wandered over to his side, and there were 3 bodies, presumeably his and the 2 hench. I don't know if his logout made his henchies die as well or what, but I auto-won 3-0, so I'm not complaining.
What did suck was my second time through. I was teamed with some random guy who was pretty cool and a couple henchies. Problem was, The opponets (e elementalists) had a monk henchie, and we didn't (I had a monk secondary, but I was more into the smiting prayers). They put too much damage into us before we could kill the monk, so we lost like 5-2. I think that they either need to give both sided a monk hench or neither side. It'd make it a lot more even. |
